Aruma (formerly House with No Steps and The Tipping Foundation) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with a disability.
Aruma aims to continually improve the user experience for users of all abilities and to apply the relevant accessibility standards throughout our website without exception.
To meet this goal:
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. The Aruma website has been independently audited and assessed as fully conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
Additional measures
In addition to WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance, we have endeavoured to incorporate some additional Level AAA success criteria into our site including an enhanced contrast view, programmatically identifiable interface elements, decorative use of images containing text, keyboard navigability, and Easy English versions of some content.
Limitations
Blog posts may include embedded social media content from other organisations and individuals, and embedded content may include images without text alternatives or other content that may not be fully accessible. We cannot ensure the quality, availability or accessibility standards of this type of embedded content, however we provide contextual descriptions for such content in posts, we monitor the availability of third party content providers and we typically resolve issues under our control within 3 business days. We encourage you to contact us if you encounter an issue that you feel requires attention.
We welcome your feedback and will respond as soon as possible on business days. Please get in touch with us if you encounter any barriers to accessibility on our site:
The Aruma site is designed to be compatible with modern browsers on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android operating systems, and with NVDA, ZoomText V20 and Voiceover (iOS) accessibility tools. Accessibility features are not fully supported on Internet Explorer 11 (and older).
Technical specifications
The accessibility of the site relies on HTML, WAI-ARIA, CSS and Javascript to work with the particular combination of web browser and any assistive technologies or plugins installed on your computer. These are dependencies for conformance with the accessibility standards we have adopted.
The Aruma site was independently audited and assessed for WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance by me2 accessibility and a compliance certificate was prepared as part of this process on December 4, 2020.
